Box Score DeLand, Fla. - Fans at the MAC were treated to a strong performance from the Stetson baseball team on Tuesday night, as the Hatters opened a two-game series against Siena with an 8-1 win. The Hatter pitching staff allowed just one run on five hits on the night, while at the plate, Stetson tallied eight runs on eight hits while drawing five walks and three hit batters.

After both pitchers cruised through the first two innings, Stetson (5-3) struck first in the bottom of the third inning. After catcher
Christian Pregent got things going with a single back up the middle and third baseman
Drew Wyers reached on a single to shallow left field, shortstop
Andrew Estrella continued his recent hot streak, planting a 2-1 offering from the Sienna (0-8) hurler in the visiting bullpen for his team-leading fifth home run of the season to give the Hatters the 3-0 lead.

SU would leave the bases loaded in the fourth inning, before adding on to the lead in the fifth. With runners on first and second, first baseman
Landon Moran poke a check-swing single through the left side that saw left fielder
Evan Griffis score all the way from second base. An errant throw then moved both runners into scoring position for right field

David Bermudez. Moran would score on a wild pitch to push the Hatter lead to 6-0.

Moran added on in the seventh inning, hitting his first home run of the season to left-center field to extend the lead to 7-0.

After Siena plated a run in the top of the eighth, the Hatters immediately got the run back, as shortstop
Lorenzo Meola drew a bases loaded walk to drive in the game's final run and put the Hatters back up 8-1.

Jonathan Gonzalez (1-1) picked up the win for Stetson, holding the Saints scoreless and allowing just three hits over 7.0 innings. He did not issue a walk and struck out five.
