Fort Myers – Fla. The #9 seeded Hatters fell short to the #1 seeded Eagles in the ASUN Championship Quarterfinal 48-66.
Stetson trailed FGCU after the first quarter 13-16.
Khamya McNeal contributed 5 points and
Jamiya Turner had 4 to lead the Hatters in the quarter.
In the second quarter, the Eagles clamped down on the defensive side of the ball to cause the Hatters to go 2-11 from the field. Stetson ended up turning the ball over 11 times leading to a 21-33 deficit at the half.
Stetson went to work in the paint in the second half scoring 22 points.
Jaelyn Talley had a team high 8 points in the second half, concluding with 15 points for the night. McNeal was not far behind scoring a total of 13 points. These two performances were not enough for the Hatters as the Eagles continued to cause turnovers and turn them into points as Stetson fell 48-66.
The loss to the Eagles concludes the Hatters run in the ASUN Championship and ultimately the season.
