Big Sixth Inning Lifts Hatters Past Mount St. Mary's 10-4

Yohann Dessureault belts first career grand slam

DeLand, Fla. -- Yohann Dessureault's sixth-inning grand slam highlighted a 7-run outburst as Stetson defeated Mount St. Mary's 10-4 Monday night at Melching Field.

The Hatters (9-4) got six strong innings from starter Jonathan Gonzalez to win for the fifth time in their last six games.

With the score tied at 3 in the bottom of the sixth, the Hatters got the inning started with a walk by Christian Pregent and a base hit by Jayden Hilton.  Daniel Labrador then broke the tie with an RBI single to left, and Cameron Hill made it a 5-3 game with an RBI single to right.

Stetson would add another run when Landon Moran was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  That brought up Dessureault, who drilled a 0-1 pitch off the brick facade of the video board in right for his first career grand slam.  He finished the game with a career-high five RBI.

Gonzalez (2-1) picked up the win on the mound, striking out seven batters over his six innings of work.  Daniel Paret, Nick Guzzi, and Jack Owens combined on the final three innings to close out the victory.

Stetson collected nine hits in the game, including two apiece from David Bermudez and Moran. Labrador drove in two runs.

The Mount (6-6) got a fourth inning home run from Brady Drawbaugh.

After playing 12 of their first 13 games at home, the Hatters will begin a four-game road trip Wednesday night at FIU.
