Jacksonville, Fla. - Stetson (18-7, 6-2) defeated FGCU (16-7, 6-2) in the ASUN semifinals to advance to the ASUN Championship Match.
The Hatters were able to secure the doubles point to start the match as
Anais Gabriel and
Noa Cohen won on court three 6-3. They would be followed up by
Nadejda Maslova and Magdalena Hedzrak on court one who won 6-4 to win the doubles point.
In singles play, FGCU would tie up the score as
Magdalena Hedrzak would fall on court six 2-6, 3-6.
Nadejda Maslova would put Stetson out in front 2-1 as she would win on court one 6-4, 7-6.
Noa Cohen would win a three-set match on court five 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. The Hatters would clinch the victory as
Cheri Darley would win another three set match 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to advance Stetson into the ASUN finals on Saturday with a 4-1 win.
"What an absolute battle tonight. Full credit to FGCU. They threw everything at us. We stood strong tonight and it showed in how much we wanted it and supported eachother," said Stetson head coach
Travis Sandlant.
Stetson will look to repeat as ASUN Champions as they face North Florida in the ASUN Finals on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with the match featured on ESPN+. The Hatters defeated the Ospreys earlier this year 5-2.
