TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Stetson Hatters saw first pitch for their non-conference clash with in-state foe Florida State on Tuesday night pushed back an hour due to rain and lightning in the area. That bad weather, coupled with more expected later in the evening, eventually led to the game being cancelled entirely.
The game would have served as the first of a 12-game streak of games in the state of Florida for Stetson, who opens up a four-game home stand against Liberty this Friday evening at 6:30 PM. The Hatters (24-17, 12-6 ASUN) are coming off of a three-game sweep at ASUN opponent Central Arkansas over the weekend. Stetson dominated all phases of the game during the sweep, hitting .265 with five home runs while averaging 6.3 runs per game to go along with a team ERA of 1.38 and 25 strikeouts in 26.0 innings pitched. The sweep, which saw the Hatters win 4-3 in 10 innings on Friday, 12-2 in seven innings on Saturday, and 3-0 on Sunday, was the third in ASUN play for Stetson. The Hatters also took all three games from Kennesaw State (6-5, 14-9, 2-1) in March and North Alabama (5-2, 12-7, 9-7) to open April.
Stetson and Liberty will open their series at 6:30 PM on Friday night, before squaring off at 6:30 PM on Saturday night. The Hatters and Flames will then wrap up the series at 1:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.Â
