Kennesaw, GA – Stetson (7-5, 0-2) could not complete the comeback as Kennesaw State (2-10, 1-2) claimed the victory 14-12 over the Hatters.
Kennesaw State would get on the board first in the game at the 13:32 mark. Stetson would pick up the next four goals to take a 4-1 lead as they would grab seven groundballs. At the 12:28 mark
Georgia Goering would net her first goal, followed by
Katie Kornacki,
Camden Frissora and
Samantha Paglino. The Owls would net the next three to tie the game up 4-4 after the first quarter.
Kennesaw State would score three straight goals to start the second quarter before
Katie Kornacki would get her second of the day at the 5:20 mark.
Sydney Heimann would make three saves in the quarter. The Owls would score one more before going into half to lead it 8-5 over the Hatters.
The Owls would start the second half by netting two goals, Stetson would finally score one of their own at the 10:43 mark as
Molly Kearney would get her first goal of the game.
Kaitlin Pani would get in on the scoring action next as she netted one at the 8:27 mark making it 7-10 still in favor of the Owls. The Owls would respond and so would Pani with another goal. Kennesaw State would score the next three goals as they would head into the fourth quarter up 14-8 over the Hatters.
Stetson would clamp down on the defensive end in the fourth quarter holding the Owls scoreless, while turning them over nine times. Despite the stellar defense, the Hatters could only net four goals in the quarter in their comeback efforts.
Jordyn Humphrey would start the scoring at the 10:58 mark, followed by Pani at the 8:24 mark. Humphrey and Pani would close out the scoring on the day as Humphrey netted her second and Pani her fourth making the final score 12-14 as Kennesaw State would claim the victory.
The Hatters continue conference play on the road as they head to Liberty with a matchup on April 15
th at 12:00 p.m.
