Stetson fought through a rainy second half as they fell to Coastal Carolina 3-0 Sunday afternoon at CCU Soccer Stadium.
Â
Stetson has been decimated by injuries throughout the start of the season that has led to many different athletes playing different positions throughout the game. The adversity that the Hatters faced hasn't affected the heart and passion that the student athletes play with.
Â
The Hatters started the game out quick as Alexa Lobasso was able to cross over her defender before taking a shot that was just off target to the left in the first minute.
Mallory Osborn made some incredible saves that kept the score close. On one of the saves, Osborn was able to make a leaping save on a corner kick.
Â
As the second half got under away, the rain started to fall creating even more adversity for the Hatters. Even though the Hatters were down, they didn't stop fighting. In the last five minutes of the game the Hatters were able to draw fouls that resulted in two free kicks just outside the box applying pressure on the Chanticleer defense and goalkeeper.Â
Â
The Hatters will start conference play on Thursday as they face Jacksonville at 7pm.
