DELAND, Fla. – For the first time since 2017, the Stetson Hatters have secured a share of the ASUN Regular Season Championship. A 1-1 draw against the Bellarmine Knights on Saturday night at the Athletic Training Center clinched the #1 seed for Stetson in the 2024 ASUN Championship, ensuring the road to the title runs through DeLand. The Hatters wrapped up the regular season with a 4-5-6 overall record, remaining undefeated in conference play at 3-0-4.
Stetson's achievement came in a hard-fought match against a familiar opponent, as Bellarmine had ended the Hatters' postseason runs the past two years.
Following a tightly contested first half, Stetson broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute. Clarence Loriot delivered his first goal of the season with a header, assisted by team captain Charles Ahl off a corner kick. However, Bellarmine responded with a late equalizer in the 88th minute, resulting in Stetson's third consecutive draw.
Graduate goalkeeper Nicolo Radaelli made three saves on the night, facing eight shots from the Knights.
With a first-round bye in the ASUN Championship, the Hatters will return to action in the semifinals on Monday, November 11, facing the winner of the #4 vs. #5 first-round matchup.
