LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Stetson Hatters closed their regular season in style with a 4-0 shutout victory over Warner (FL) on Thursday night. The game, a late addition to the schedule, lifted the Hatters to a 5-5-6 record ahead of the ASUN Conference Tournament, which begins Saturday.
Andres Mata delivered an outstanding performance, recording a hat trick with two second-half goals, marking Stetson's first hat trick since Nelson Pereira's in September 2021 against Embry-Riddle. Mata's three goals bring him even with Maurice Hauser for the team lead this season, giving him 15 career goals. Afonso Conde also found the net, scoring his fourth of the season and ninth of his career.
The Hatters opened scoring early, with Mata netting his first goal in the seventh minute.
Stetson doubled its lead in the 42nd minute when Conde scored off an assist from Nicolas Nava. Just before halftime, Mata struck again in the 44th minute, with Nava picking up his second assist of the night.
Stetson extended their advantage to 4-0 early in the second half, as Mata completed his hat trick in the 47th minute on a setup from Jacob Lenhard.
Goalkeeper Javier Barbosa was rock-solid in goal, making three saves on Warner's three shots to secure the clean sheet.
