Tiasia McMillan Falls Just Shy of Double-Double in 66-49 Loss to Navy

Annapolis, MDTiasia McMillan recorded a season-high 15 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Stetson Hatters fell to the Navy Midshipmen, 66-49, on the road Saturday afternoon.

McMillan, along with Quentarra Mitchell and Jorah Eppley, formed a trio that accounted for 38 of Stetson's 49 total points. Mitchell added 14 points, while Eppley chipped in with nine.

After falling behind 14-2 early, Stetson mounted a brief 5-0 run late in the first quarter to cut the deficit to 14-7. However, Navy responded by extending its lead, ending the quarter ahead 18-9.

The Hatters continued to struggle in the second quarter, as Navy widened its lead to 33-19 by halftime.

The second half saw Stetson's deficit continue to grow, with the Hatters trailing 48-31 heading into the final period. Despite the challenge, Stetson performed well in the paint, scoring six of its 12 points near the basket in the third quarter.

In the fourth, Navy stretched its lead to 66-44 before Stetson closed the game on a 5-0 run, capped off by Eppley's layup, to bring the final score to 66-49.

Defensively, Stetson held Navy to 38.2 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers. The Hatters tallied five blocks as a team, with McMillan leading the way with three. This marked her second game this season with three or more blocks, after recording four blocks in Stetson's win over Utah State last week. Mitchell was also a defensive standout, tying a career-high and setting a season-high six steals.

With the loss, Stetson drops to 4-5 on the season. The Hatters will return home to the Insight Credit Union Arena, where they remain undefeated. Stetson will host the High Point Panthers on Saturday, December 14, at 1:30 PM.
