GAME NOTES
THE LEAD
The Stetson University baseball team will stay on the road as they head up I-95 to John Sessions Stadium in Jacksonville for a three-game series with the Dolphins. The weekend series marks the start of conference play for the Hatters as they approach Friday with a 12-6 record after falling to UCF 7-1 on Wednesday. First pitch for Friday and Saturday's games will be at 7:00 PM for both games while Sunday's game starts at 1:00 PM.

INSIDE THE SERIES
In the long standing history between the two conference foes, Stetson leads in the series with a record of 101-92-2. While they hold a 55-40-2 record at home, they trail 42-50 when playing in the Gateway to Florida. The Hatters enter on a one game win streak against the Dolphins, having last met in a 6-5 home win on May 14, 2023 when the Hatters scored twice in the 9th. The series dates all the way back to March 28, 1958 when the Hatters dominated the inaugural game at home, 13-0. Over their 195 previous meetings, the Hatters have scored a total of 1,095 runs, 5.62 per game.

SCOUTING THE HATTERS (12-6, 0-0 ASUN)
Stetson approaches the weekend series coming off a road loss to UCF on Wednesday. Despite striking first, the Hatters would drop their second road game of the season, 7-1 as they fell to 12-6.

Over their last five games, which includes a series sweep over the Bradley Braves, freshman Nelphie Lopez and junior Gio Cueto have each tallied seven hits. Lopez is batting .500 over that span as he was one of three Hatters to collect a hit in the loss to UCF.

Cueto, who also reached on a hit on Wednesday, continues to lead the Hatters with a .350 batting average, going 21 for 60 thus far. He launched his first homerun as a Hatter in game one of last Saturday's double-header win over the Braves. He also leads the team with 20 runs batted in, second most in the ASUN, and seven doubles, tied for the most in the conference.

Yohann Dessureault has started all 18 games at second base, batting .328 with 19 hits. 11 of his hits have been extra base hits, including a team-leading six homeruns. He has plated 17 runs while providing a team-high .724 SLG%.

Daniel Paret and Anthony DeFabbia have each earned three wins this season, the latter of the two having already received ASUN Pitcher of the Week honors this year. Paret leads the team with a 1.99 ERA through 22.2 innings pitched while striking out 25 batters and holding opponents to a .193 batting average.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS (5-11, 0-0 ASUN)
The Dolphins enter the weekend on a five game losing skid after Cal State Fullerton swept in a three-game series prior to a close road loss to Bethune-Cookman. They last played at home on March 6, falling 16-12 to USF, and their last win came the day before, a 6-5 victory over Valparaiso

Sophomore second baseman Justin Nadeau, a Preseason All-ASUN Team honoree, leads the team with a .412 average, having tallied 21 hits in 51 at-bats. He's driven in 11 runs while crossing home 11 times, as well.

Junior Josh Steidl has belted five homeruns this season while batting .321 with a .717 SLG% and a team-high 16 RBIs.

Sophomore RHP Evan Chrest, another Preseason All-ASUN Team selection, holds a 1-2 record while striking out 22 batters over 15.1 innings pitched. Freshman Peyton Prescott holds a 4.58 ERA and 1.25 WHIP across a team-high 17.2 innings pitched while striking out 21 hitters and holding opponents to a .212 average

The Dolphins were projected to finish third in the ASUN Preseason Coaches' Poll with 115 points and a vote for first place, trailing Lipscomb and FGCU in the poll.

NEXT UP
Stetson will continue their road trip as they head to the panhandle to take on Florida State at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee. First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 at 5:00 PM with all the action on ESPN+.
