TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Stetson University baseball team concluded their road trip with a 1-0 loss to #12 Florida State at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium on Tuesday night. Senior John Modugno got the start but was a no-decision after tossing five shutout innings, allowing three hits, with no walks and four strikeouts. After seven innings of scoreless baseball, the Seminoles scored the lone run on a sacrifice fly.
The Hatters were held to two hits in the loss as Lorenzo Meola and Gio Cueto each reached on a single. The Stetson batters also drew four walks including Meola, who was one of two batters to reach twice, the other being freshman Kyle Jones, who drew a walk and was hit by a pitch.
Despite the loss, Stetson's pitching staff limited Florida State to 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position. They faced 32 Florida State batters in the game, forcing 13 ground balls and six fly balls while striking out five.
The Hatters return to Melching Field at Conrad Park this weekend as they host the Lipscomb Bisons for a three game series, starting at 6:30 PM on Friday. All the action will be streamed to ESPN+ while live stats are available at gohatters.com.
