Stetson lacrosse fell 21-12 to Queens on Wednesday afternoon.
The Hatters broke the ice 1:02 into the game on a goal by
Katie Kornacki but the Royals scored three straight goals to take the lead.
Anya Phillips cut into the deficit, but Queens went on to score twice more. Bird scored on a free position shot with just under a minute left in the first period and Stetson trailed 3-5.
The Royals added another goal to start the second quarter before Kornacki tallied her second of the game. Queens put in eight goals in a row and the Hatters trailed 4-14 at the end of the first half.
Maya Sellinger and
Sam King opened the scoring in the second half to bring the Hatters within eight. Queens scored next almost halfway through the third quarter. King scored her second goal of the game, but the Royals scored twice more before the end of the third.
Stetson scored five goals to begin the fourth quarter making it 12-17. Kornacki scored the first three goals as
Molly Kearney and Phillips each added one during the run. Queens scored four goals in a row to end the game as the Hatters fell 12-21.
Stetson will wrap up the regular season at Coastal Carolina for a noon matchup on Sunday, April 21.
