DeLAND, Fla. - Following a series sweep of the Central Arkansas Bears to finish the 2024 regular season, the Stetson Hatters concluded as ASUN Regular Season Co-Champions. It is the program's seventh regular season championship and the first since their historic season in 2018.
Stetson finished the season with a 20-10 record against ASUN foes and a 37-19 overall record. Their season saw seven series wins in the conference including three sweeps. Their record was a perfect split of 10-5 at home and on the road, the latter marking the best road ASUN record in the conference.
The Hatters now turn their attention to the ASUN Championship this coming week. Following Saturday's contests, the eight-team field has been determined for the 2024 Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Championship. This year's event, which begins on Tuesday, May 21, is hosted by Stetson for the second year in a row at Melching Field in DeLand, Fla.
While Austin Peay secured the #1 Seed, FGCU, Stetson, Central Arkansas, EKU, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State and Lipscomb all qualified for the postseason.Â
The format of this year's championship features the qualifying teams split into four-team pools based on RPI. The three co-champions all earned a spot in Pool A while four teams comprise Pool B. The first four days of the championship (May 21-24) features competition within the two groups of teams. Pool A competes in a round robin schedule while Pool B plays out a double-elimination bracket. The top three teams after the Pool A round robin and the Pool B bracket winner make up the four teams who battle it out in the semifinals Saturday, May 25, and the championship final on Sunday, May 26.The entire 2024 Baseball Championship streams live onÂ
