Stetson Women's Soccer fell to Wofford 1-0 Sunday afternoon.
Â
"Both teams competed very well wanting to win the game", said Head Coach
Jamie Souza. "We stuck to our game plan and just needed to execute it better. It was a decently physical game, but we needed to do a little more with the ball in the final third of the pitch."Â Â
Â
The Hatters peppered shots on goal early in the first half and registered seven shots with three being on goal in the first half. The Terroirs broke the deadlock in the thirtieth minute to take a 1-0 lead on their only shot on goal in the first half. In the second half, Stetson added another five shots with three being on goal but were unable to find the back of the net.Â

Goalkeeper
Ashleigh Wise kept the team in the game making four saves in the second half. The two teams combined for twenty-three fouls as Wofford committed the majority with fifteen.
Taylor Ayres tallied the most shots on goal in the game with two for the Hatters.Â
Â
"We are going to look to improve on executing on set pieces this week", said Souza. "We generated a lot of good situations. We want to work on our pattern play and creativity so that we have more rhythm and continue to generate chances."
Â
Returning to DeLand, Stetson will look to bounce back on Thursday, August 22. They will host Alabama A&M at 6pm.
