Stetson Draws Even with No. 24 NC State

Hatters Held Lead for 43 Minutes

RALEIGH, NC - For the second consecutive match, the Stetson Hatters battled to a 1-1 draw, this time on the road against #24 NC State on Friday, Sept. 13, at Dail Soccer Stadium. The result brings Stetson's season record to 1-3-2 as they prepare to enter conference play next week.

In front of over 1,300 spectators, the Hatters struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Sophomore defender Joao Freitas notched his first collegiate goal after two earlier attempts were deflected by the Wolfpack keeper. Following a ricochet from a shot by team captain Charles Ahl, Freitas capitalized to put Stetson ahead.

The Hatters carried the lead into halftime, holding a 3-1 shot advantage, with all three of their attempts on target.

Despite maintaining the lead for most of the second half, NC State found the equalizer in the 88th minute, leveling the score at 1-1. Neither side could break the deadlock as the match ended in a draw.

With this result, Stetson improves to 1-0-1 all-time against NC State and 3-2-1 against ACC opponents.

Nicolo Radaelli recorded one save for the Hatters, while Stetson placed six shots on goal against NC State's eight total attempts.

As a team, Stetson outshot the Wolfpack 12-8, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. Charles Ahl led the Hatters' offense with four total shots, three of them on target.

After a brief break, Stetson will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they kick off ASUN play by hosting North Florida at the ATC. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM with streaming on ESPN+ and free admission to all fans.
