Hatters Fall Just Short at North Florida, 1–0

Jacksonville, Fla. — Stetson (4-12-0, 1-6-0 ASUN) battled through a defensive matchup on the road Sunday afternoon but came up just short in a 1–0 loss to North Florida (6-8-2, 4-3-0 ASUN) at Hodges Stadium.

The Hatters held strong through a scoreless first half, weathering early pressure from the Ospreys. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Caprez came up big with multiple saves, including a key stop on a Skya Horth attempt in the 39th minute. Stetson created several promising chances of its own late in the half, highlighted by a Brooke Voorhees shot on goal that forced a save to keep the score level at 0–0 heading into the break.

In the second half, Caprez and the Hatter back line continued to hold firm under sustained UNF pressure. However, the Ospreys converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute to take the lead. Stetson continued to press for an equalizer, generating quality looks from Lily Sargent-Burns and Madison Bell, whose 78th-minute strike tested the UNF keeper but couldn't find the net.

Caprez finished the match with three saves on 23 shots faced, anchoring the defense in another strong showing between the posts. Voorhees and Bell each recorded shots on goal, while Sargent-Burns added a shot and contributed defensively throughout the contest.

The Hatters return home on Wednesday, Oct. 16, to host Queens at 7 p.m. in DeLand.
