Johnson and Copeland Score 16 Each in Hatters’ Road Battle at RMU

CARNOT-MOON, Pa. — Stetson fell to Robert Morris 80–62 on Sunday afternoon at the UPMC Events Center, closing out the weekend in Pennsylvania. The Hatters showed balanced scoring with four players in double figures.

Stetson opened the game with energy, as Jake Johnson drilled a three off a feed from Jamie Phillips Jr. just 11 seconds into the contest. The Hatters continued to attack early, with Albert Vargas giving Stetson a lift off the bench—highlighted by a fastbreak three that contributed to his nine first-half points. Ethan Copeland, who would later earn All-Tournament Team honors, buried a deep three just before the halftime buzzer. Still, Stetson struggled to match Robert Morris from long range, and the Colonials took a 45–28 lead into the break.

The Hatters fought to climb back in the second half. Copeland sparked Stetson with an early three and an and-one free throw to chip away at the deficit, while Phillips added tough baskets in the lane. Collin Kuhl battled on the interior and recorded his first double-double of the season, helping Stetson produce steady points in the paint. But each time the Hatters built momentum, Robert Morris responded with timely perimeter shots, eventually keeping Stetson at arm's length the rest of the way.

Stetson Top Performers Looking ahead, Stetson travels west to face Grand Canyon on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 9 p.m. at Global Credit Union Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
