Stetson fell 107–54 to Oklahoma on Monday night at the Lloyd Noble Center wrapping up non-conference play.
Stetson opened the game with confidence, as
Ethan Copeland knocked down a jumper to give the Hatters an early lead. The teams traded baskets in the opening minutes before Oklahoma began to build momentum. Copeland remained active offensively, converting a layup midway through the half to keep Stetson within striking distance. Despite the Hatters' efforts, Oklahoma was able to pull away late in the half, sending Stetson into the break trailing 51-30.
The Hatters continued to battle in the second half, with
Jamie Phillips Jr. opening the scoring early.
Sean Morgan added points inside and at the free-throw line as Stetson looked to find rhythm on the offensive end. Copeland connected on a three-pointer midway through the half, and
Collin Kuhl added a triple late, providing bright spots as the Hatters continued to push the pace.
While Stetson was unable to overcome Oklahoma's size and depth, the Hatters stayed aggressive defensively, forcing turnovers and creating transition opportunities. Copeland led the way offensively, while Kuhl and
J.R. Leonard provided efficient scoring in limited opportunities.
Stetson will look to regroup and turn the page as conference play approaches.
