Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Thomas Drops 35 as Stetson Tops UCF for First Time Since 2015

Hatters erase double-digit deficit to improve to 6–2 and extend win streak

ORLANDO, Fla. — A superstar performance on a big stage powered Stetson Women's Basketball to one of its most impressive wins in recent years. Behind a career-high 35 points from graduate guard Cameron Thomas, the Hatters stormed back for a 70–67 victory over UCF Wednesday night at Addition Financial Arena. The win is Stetson's first over the Knights in 10 years and the program's first regular-season triumph over a Power Conference opponent since 2017.

Thomas was nearly unstoppable from the opening tip. She poured in 14 of Stetson's 18 first-quarter points, attacking the rim and knocking down shots from deep to help the Hatters take an early edge. She continued to carry the offensive load throughout the night — finishing 11-for-20 from the floor and drilling five threes — keeping Stetson close even as UCF built a 10-point lead late in the third quarter.

But the Hatters refused to fold. Their defensive energy sparked a late run, forcing four steals in the decisive fourth quarter. Thomas continued to deliver under pressure, burying a pair of threes to ignite the comeback and give Stetson momentum entering the final minutes.

With the Knights clinging to a one-point lead in the closing stretch, graduate guard Mary McMillan attacked the paint for a go-ahead layup and then calmly sank two free throws to push the margin to three. Senior guard Promise Keshi added six clutch points in the quarter — including two late free throws that made it a two-possession game with six seconds remaining.

UCF scored at the buzzer to cut the margin to three, but the Hatters held strong, celebrating a statement road win and improving to 6–2 on the season.

The performance capped a memorable night for Thomas, whose 35 points tie for the fifth-most in a single game in program history — last achieved by Brianti Saunders in 2017. It was also the most points scored by a Hatter since joining the ASUN era.
