DeLand, Fla. — Stetson men's basketball wraps up its road trip in Columbia when it takes on South Carolina on Saturday, Dec. 6, with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Stetson enters the weekend at 3–7, coming off a tough defensive battle against Grand Canyon. Jamie Phillips Jr. continues to lead the Hatters in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.9 points and 5.3 boards per game. Ethan Copeland remains in double figures at 11.4 points per contest while pacing the team with 14 steals.
Calvin Sirmans III has continued to orchestrate the offense with a team-high 37 assists, and Collin Kuhl has showcased his two-way presence, recording his first double-double of the season against Robert Morris and following it with a team-leading 13 points against Grand Canyon. As a team, the Hatters are averaging 69 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 34 percent from three, and 63 percent from the free-throw line.
South Carolina enters the matchup with a 5–3 record after an 86–83 overtime loss to Virginia Tech in the ACC/SEC Challenge. The Gamecocks feature four double-digit scorers, led by Meechie Johnson at 14.9 points per game. Mike Sharavjamts (11.6), Elijah Strong (11.1), and Eli Ellis (10.6) round out the group. Sharavjamts also leads the team in rebounding at 6.5 per game and has recorded five blocks.
Kobe Knox and Johnson run the offense with 26 assists each, followed by Ellis (23) and Sharavjamts (20). As a team, South Carolina averages 81 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field, 32 percent from three, and 75 percent at the line.
Stetson and South Carolina have met six times, with the all-time series tied 3–3. The Hatters won the most recent matchup, a 63–56 victory on Dec. 30, 2019.
