ORLANDO, Fla. – The Stetson Hatters had their six-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night, falling 2-0 to the UCF Knights in a rain-soaked game that was called after five innings.
Junior Ethan Phillips (0-2) took the mound for Stetson, now 17-13, and was tagged with the loss. Junior Turner Spoljaric impressed out of the bullpen, throwing two shutout innings, allowing just one hit, no walks, and recording one strikeout.
Junior Jayden Hylton was the lone Hatter to record a hit, going 1-for-2. Despite not advancing a runner past second base, the Hatters had an opportunity in the fifth inning when Jordan Taylor reached scoring position with two outs.
The game was then delayed for an hour and a half due to lightning, and ultimately, it was concluded after the fifth inning.
Stetson will now turn its focus to the weekend, as they return to Melching Field to host the Queens Royals for a three-game conference series. The Hatters aim to improve on their 7-2 ASUN record.
