Foster Goes Perfect at the Plate, Blasts 2 Home Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of Queens

DeLand, Fla. – Stetson softball swept Saturday's doubleheader against Queens with dominant pitching from Ava Braswell and Kennedy Temples, and a stellar offensive performance by Addison Foster, who went a perfect 6-for-6 on the day.

"I just had full confidence in myself to get a hit every at bat today," said shortstop Addison Foster. "I felt like I was seeing their pitching really well but I was just telling myself I'm in control and I have confidence up there. At the start of the games we struggled a little bit but we trusted each other and ourselves and came up with some big innings."

Braswell earned her eighth win of the season, throwing five innings and allowing just two runs on three hits, while striking out six. After a scoreless first, Queens jumped ahead with two runs in the second, but the Hatters erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the third to take control.

Gia Napoli jump started the rally with her first career home run, followed by Foster's solo shot to tie the game at 2-2. Stetson kept the pressure on as hits from Kami Eppley, Amber Chumley, and Nadia English loaded the bases. Devon Weller and Dylan Anthony delivered RBI singles, and Napoli and Foster, each batting for the second time in the inning, added more damage—including a two-RBI double from Foster to cap the frame.

The Hatters added two more in the fourth on home runs by Chumley and Weller to push the lead to 10-2. Braswell shut the door in the fifth, sealing the run-rule victory.

Stetson tied a program record with four home runs in a single game, last achieved in 2014 vs. Kennesaw State. Foster finished 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs, while Weller matched her with a 3-for-3 game with 2 RBIs.

Kennedy Temples earned her second career win, tossing five strong innings while giving up just one run on two hits and striking out five. She struck out the first four batters she faced, and Stetson backed her up right away. In the first inning, Eppley drew a walk and scored on a double by English to put the Hatters up 1-0.

Defensively, Eppley made a highlight-reel catch, robbing a home run at the wall to preserve the lead. In the fourth, Anthony doubled and Taibl, the pinch runner, was later brought in on a sac fly to make it 2-0.

Queens broke through for a run in the fifth, but the Hatters responded with a five-run bottom half. After a walk and a single, Napoli drove in two with an infield hit. Foster followed with her second home run of the day, a deep shot to right, giving Stetson a commanding 7-1 lead.

Caitlyn Kulczyski closed things out with two perfect innings of relief to secure the sweep.

Foster capped off a remarkable day by going 6-for-6 with two homers, five RBIs, and a walk, extending her on-base streak to 24 consecutive games.

Stetson will look to complete the weekend sweep of Queens on Sunday, April 13 at 12:00 p.m.
