Fort Myers, Fla. – Addison Foster drove in four runs to lead Stetson to a 5-1 win over FGCU on Saturday afternoon, helping the Hatters take the series on the road.
Hayley Arnold earned the win in the circle, going 4.1 innings and allowing just one run on two hits and three walks while striking out one. Ava Braswell came in to close things out, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and giving up just two hits to secure the victory.
The game remained scoreless through the first three innings until Stetson broke through in the fourth. Dylan Anthony drew a walk, Madelyn Synoracki singled, and Gia Napoli walked to load the bases. Foster then ripped a double off the left field wall, plating two runs to put the Hatters on top 2-0. Kami Eppley followed with a groundout to first, bringing in a third run.
FGCU responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Braswell escaped further trouble to maintain the 3-1 lead.
Stetson added two insurance runs in the seventh, once again courtesy of Foster. After Annabella McClerren walked and Anthony reached on an error, Napoli drew her fourth walk of the game to load the bases. Foster then delivered again, this time with a double to the gap in left center, extending the lead to 5-1.
Braswell shut the door in the bottom half of the inning to seal the win for the Hatters.
Foster finished the game 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs, while Napoli had a standout day at the plate, drawing four walks.
Stetson returns home to host UCF on Wednesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m. The game is presented by Culver's DeLand.
