JACKSONVILLE – In a rematch of last year's ASUN Championship Final, the Stetson Hatters outlasted the North Florida Ospreys 4-3 on Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville. Lucas Olivier delivered the clinching point for the Hatters, winning a second-set tiebreaker on Court 3 to seal the victory. With the win, Stetson improves to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in ASUN play.
The Hatters snapped a five-match losing streak to UNF, earning their first win over the Ospreys since 2021 and just their second since 2012.
Despite Marc Saura and Olivier posting a 6-4 win on Court 2, the Hatters dropped the doubles point after falling in a tiebreaker on Court 3.
Xavier Sarda quickly evened the score with a dominant straight-set win on Court 4, but the Ospreys regained the lead with a win on Court 2. Sami Ozzor responded with a pair of 6-3 victories on Court 6 to tie it up at 2-2.
After North Florida claimed Court 1, Haris Eminefendic pulled the Hatters even once again, winning a first-set tiebreak before closing it out 6-3 in the second on Court 5.
That set the stage for Olivier, who took the first set 6-3 and held his nerve in the second, clinching the match with a 7-4 tiebreaker win to give Stetson the dramatic 4-3 victory.
