DeLand, Fla. – Stetson softball honored their seniors before Saturday's game and delivered a 7-3 victory over West Georgia.
The Wolves started off the game scoring three runs in the top of the first inning off
Caitlyn Kulczyski. The Hatters turned to
Hayley Arnold, and she got them out of the inning and kept West Georgia off the scoreboard the rest of the game. Arnold went seven no hit innings while striking out eight.
Stetson got on the board in the second inning scoring four runs to seize the lead away from West Georgia.
Devon Weller led off the inning with a triple down the right field line and
Annabella McClerren singled to the pitcher bringing in Weller to score.
Gia Napoli walked, and
Addison Foster cashed in with an RBI single through the left side.
Kami Eppley followed with a single of her own bringing in two runs to make it 4-3.
The Hatters got back on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Eppley was hit by a pitch and then stole second.
Amber Chumley singled through the right side bringing in Eppley to make it 5-3.
In the bottom of the sixth, Stetson added two insurance runs on solo home runs.
Irianis Garcia hit her first collegiate home run to center field and Eppley added the second to make it 7-3. Arnold continued to deal and struck out two of the final three batters to secure the victory.
Eppley led the Hatters at the plate going 2-3 including a home run and drove in three runs. Garcia also collected two hits including a home run.
Stetson will now prepare for the ASUN Tournament which begins May 6 in Oxford, Alabama.
