CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Stetson Hatters dropped its first road contest of the season on Saturday night, falling 63-0 to Chattanooga at Finley Stadium. The Hatters now stand at 1-2 overall.
Trey Clark paced the Stetson offense, rushing for 24 yards on 11 carries while also adding a 12-yard reception. Quarterback Kael Alexander connected with tight end Anthony Benzija twice for 25 yards, highlighted by a 21-yard completion late in the second quarter that pushed the Hatters into Mocs' territory. Marvin Duffey Jr. also hauled in a 15-yard grab in the fourth quarter.
Defensively, Gabriel Gray stood out with four tackles, an interception, and two pass breakups. Christian Rand led the Hatters with six total stops, while Christopher Jimenez contributed a sack and a tackle for loss. The Stetson defense also held Chattanooga to just 94 passing yards on the night, despite the Mocs' success on the ground.
Chattanooga leaned heavily on its rushing attack, finishing with 445 yards and five touchdowns. The Mocs also found the end zone on special teams and through the air to secure the win.
Stetson will look to bounce back next Saturday, Sept. 20, when the Hatters return home to host Harvard at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. as part of Family and Friends Weekend, presented by Insight Credit Union.
