Hatters Fall to Wofford 2-0

DeLand, Fla. — Despite a strong defensive showing and several quality chances, Stetson fell 2-0 to Wofford on Sunday afternoon at the Athletic Training Center.

The Hatters held firm throughout a tightly contested first half, with goalkeeper Riley Tarvin making back-to-back saves in the 19th and 22nd minutes to keep the match scoreless. Stetson generated offensive momentum with early pressure, including a well-timed shot from Stella Comana in the 16th minute and a dangerous strike by Jessica Howard in the 38th that forced a save from Wofford's goalkeeper.

Stetson opened the second half with aggressive play, as Avery Wise tested the keeper just two minutes in. However, Wofford managed to break through with goals in the 48th and 50th minutes. Despite the setback, the Hatters continued to push forward. Bianca Mazzaferro and Taylor Ayres each created scoring opportunities, and Wise added a second shot on goal as Stetson searched for the back of the net.

Tarvin anchored the defense with a full 90-minute performance, making three saves. Ayres and Wise led the attack with two shots apiece, while Howard contributed on both ends of the field, registering a shot on goal and playing a key role in the Hatters' defensive structure.

Stetson will look to bounce back as they begin ASUN action next weekend. The Hatters host FGCU on Sunday, September 21, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. at the Athletic Training Center.
