Albuquerque, N.M. – Stetson men's golf wrapped up the opening 36 holes of the William H. Tucker Invitational on Friday, finishing the day tied for 14th at even par on the UNM Championship Course.
The Hatters posted a 2-over 290 in the morning before bouncing back with a 2-under 286 in the afternoon, steadying themselves on a demanding layout in a field led by host New Mexico (-18), Colorado (-16), and Southern California (-15).
Junior Simon Engman led the charge, rebounding from a 1-over 73 in round one with a 4-under 68 in the afternoon. At 3-under overall, he sits tied for 18th heading into Saturday.
Senior Gaspar Glaudas followed at even par, firing a 71 (-1) in the second round to climb the board. Senior Rasmus Rönnberg matched him closely at 1-over after carding an even-par 72 in the afternoon. Graduate Matthis Lefevre (+3) and senior Jackson Hicks (+7) rounded out the lineup.
Head Coach Danny Forshey's squad will look to make a move up the leaderboard in Saturday's final round. The Hatters begin at 7:45 a.m. MT, with Engman, Glaudas, Rönnberg, Lefevre, and Hicks teeing off holes 11 through 14A alongside groups from Rice and Colorado State.
