Stetson Fires Three Eagles, Sits Seventh at Whirlwind Invitational

Chandler, Ariz. – Stetson men's golf opened the 2025-26 season with a strong showing on day one of the Whirlwind Invitational, finishing at 10-under and tied for seventh place.

The Hatters carded a 4-under in the opening round, highlighted by Simon Engman's steady 3-under start. They carried the momentum into the afternoon, closing with a 282 in round two behind three eagles from Gaspar Glaudas, Matthis Lefevre, and Jackson Hicks.

Over the two rounds, Stetson recorded 31 birdies, ranking ninth in the tournament. Lefevre led the way with 10, while individual competitor James McNair added eight of his own.

Lefevre paced the Hatters individually, finishing tied for 22nd at 4-under. Glaudas followed closely at 3-under in a tie for 25th, while Hicks posted a 2-under 142 to tie for 31st. Engman and Rasmus Rönnberg both finished the day at even-par 144, and McNair ended at 7-over.

Southern California leads the team standings at 35-under par, with UTEP (-30) and Arkansas State (-29) rounding out the top three.

Stetson will return to action Tuesday morning with all five Hatters teeing off at 10:00 a.m. ET.

  • Matthis Lefevre (Hole 8) will play alongside UT Arlington's Arth Sinha and Georgia State's Brody Tidwell.
  • Gaspar Glaudas (Hole 9) joins UT Arlington's Ajay Morris and Georgia State's Matthew Calhoun.
  • Rasmus Rönnberg (Hole 10A) will play with UT Arlington's Jen Chie Huang and Georgia State's Archie Cook.
  • Jackson Hicks (Hole 10B) is paired with UT Arlington's Nick Lyman and Georgia State's Erik Norman.
  • Simon Engman (Hole 11) goes out with UT Arlington's Matthew Broder and Georgia State's Cole Finch.

James McNair, competing as an individual, will tee off from Hole 17B with UTEP's Valentin Luna and Northern Colorado's Thomas Barnes Grimes.
