ATHENS, Ga. -- Stetson University men's golfer Matthis Lefèvre finished the final round of competition Wednesday at the NCAA Athens Regional at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
A native of Hossegor, France, Lefèvre finished the 54-hole event in a tie for 49th place among the 75-golfer field. He posted rounds of 71-73-73 for a 3-over par 217. The top five teams and the top individual not one of the team qualifiers advance to the NCAA Championships later this month at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Lefèvre completed one of the best seasons for a Hatter golfer in recent history. He led the team in scoring average, won three individual tournament titles, was named the ASUN Men's Golfer of the Year and was honored as a member of the ASUN All-Academic Team.
Vanderbilt claimed the team title at 28-under par, finishing two strokes ahead of runner-up Louisville. Top-seeded Auburn finished third at 22-under, while BYU (-20) and host Georgia (-19) rounded out the national qualifiers.
Individually, Louisiana's Malan Potgieter claimed the individual qualification to Carlsbad after finishing second overall at 14-under par. The Kirkwood, South Africa native shot 66-65-68 over the three rounds.
