Hatters to Host Davidson in PFL Home Opener Saturday Afternoon

DeLAND, Fla. — After a tough road loss in their Pioneer Football League opener at Dayton, the Stetson Hatters (1-4, 0-1 PFL) return home this weekend looking to bounce back as they host the Davidson Wildcats (1-3, 0-0 PFL) at 1:00 PM at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium.

Stetson found the end zone twice through the air, as redshirt freshman quarterback Kael Alexander connected with wideout Dylan Redmon for both scores, the first multi-touchdown performance by a Hatter receiver since October 2024.

Through five games, Alexander has completed 68 percent of his passes for 882 yards and seven touchdowns, ranking fourth in the league in passing yards. Junior Wyatt Rogers leads the receiving corps with 195 yards, followed closely by Redmon, who has totaled 187 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, Trey Clark continues to pace the backfield, carrying 45 times for 165 yards and a pair of scores.

Defensively, junior linebacker Kyle Elphick anchors the unit with 32 total tackles, good for 14th in the conference. Defensive back Simeon White II has been a playmaker in the secondary, forcing two turnovers to tie for the third-most in the PFL, while Trey Lockhart and Gabe Gray have each come away with an interception as well.

The Hatters hold a 6-9 all-time record against Davidson but have kept things competitive in recent years. Though the Wildcats have taken the last five meetings, Stetson stands 5-6 against Davidson in PFL play. The Hatters have averaged more than 28 points per game in the series and have scored 40 or more in each of the last three matchups.

Davidson (1-3, 0-0 PFL) began its 2025 campaign with a home loss to Georgetown before traveling for back-to-back road games at Elon and No. 15/16 Tennessee Tech. The Wildcats enter Saturday's matchup fresh off a 48-0 home win over Greensboro College. Quarterback Coulter Cleland has thrown for 463 yards and seven touchdowns, but he also joins backs Mason Sheron and Mari Adams as 100-yard rushers thus far. Brody Reina leads the receiving corps with 143 yards, and Ivan Holt has been the primary scoring threat with four touchdown catches on the year.

Kickoff between the Hatters and Wildcats is set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium in DeLand. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live stats available at GoHatters.com. Fans are encouraged to wear green for Keep DeLand Green Day.
