Stetson redshirt-freshman quarterback Kael Alexander was named the Stats Perform FCS National Freshman of the Week following his breakout performance in the Hatters' 59-13 victory over Warner this past Saturday.

Alexander completed 11 of 15 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns in the win. He connected on six passes of 40 or more yards, including a 65-yard strike, and averaged 30.6 yards per completion — the highest mark by an FCS player with 10 or more completions in a game since 2021.

The Coral Springs, Fla., native helped first-year head coach Mike Jasper secure his first victory at the helm of the Pioneer Football League program. Alexander exited the contest with Stetson holding a commanding 52-3 lead in the third quarter.

While the PFL does not officially recognize a Freshman of the Week honor, Alexander was nominated for the national award after his standout showing.

Stetson will play its first road game of the season this Saturday, Sept. 13, when the Hatters travel to Chattanooga to face the Mocs. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Finley Stadium.
