CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Stetson (7-14, 3-5 ASUN) dropped a 73–65 decision to Austin Peay (13-6, 7-1 ASUN) on Friday night at F&M Bank Arena.
Stetson came out strong, opening the game on a 9–2 run behind early baskets from Finley Sheridan, including a layup and jumper set up by Calvin Sirmans III. Ethan Copeland added a fast-break layup to keep the pressure on, and the Hatters continued to play from in front for much of the half. Alex Doyle knocked down timely three-pointers to help maintain momentum, marking his second straight game in double figures. Despite Austin Peay's push late in the period, Stetson carried a slim 32–31 advantage into the break.
The Hatters extended the lead early in the second half, as Jake Johnson scored at 17:53 and Collin Kuhl followed with a layup to make it 36–31. Kuhl recorded his second consecutive double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while also posting his fifth straight game in double figures. Austin Peay answered with a steady run, eventually tying the game at 47 with 10:39 remaining.
Stetson continued to battle, getting contributions from Daniel Macgregor, who finished with a career-high five rebounds and tied his career best with six assists. However, Austin Peay pulled ahead down the stretch. Despite late efforts from Johnson and Sirmans III, the Hatters were unable to close the gap as the Governors secured the 73–65 win.
