DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson Women's Basketball returns to Insight Credit Union Arena on Saturday afternoon to host the Austin Peay Governors in a pivotal ASUN matchup, tipping off at 2:00 PM as part of Alumni Appreciation Day. The Hatters will welcome back former players from across the program's history while continuing conference play.
Stetson enters the weekend at 11-7 overall and 4-3 in ASUN play, coming off a 66-60 home victory over Lipscomb on Thursday afternoon. The Hatters led by as many as 17 points in the third quarter and leaned on a balanced effort, holding the Bisons to just 30.5 percent shooting from the field.
Aleah Sorrentino powered Stetson in the win with 17 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, marking her third straight game with at least 14 points and eight rebounds. The junior reached a milestone during the third quarter, scoring her 1,000th career point as the Hatters extended their lead.
As a team, Stetson is averaging 69.7 points per game while allowing 64.6, shooting 42.0 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from three-point range, both ranking among the top teams in the ASUN. Defensively, the Hatters have limited opponents to 37.7 percent shooting overall and 29.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Senior guard
Cameron Thomas continues to anchor the offense, leading both Stetson and the ASUN with 17.9 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting, including 40.0 percent from three-point range. Thomas narrowly missed a double-double against Lipscomb, finishing with nine points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks.
Graduate guard
Mary McMillan provides steady leadership in the backcourt, averaging 11.6 points per game while ranking second in the conference with 79 assists on the season. Sorrentino adds 10.3 points per game to go along with a team-high 8.3 rebounds, which ranks second in the ASUN.
On the defensive end,
Promise Keshi has been a difference-maker all season, totaling 25 blocks and 31 steals, while also contributing 7.6 points per game.
Stetson will face Austin Peay for the second time this season after earning a 56-53 road victory in Clarksville earlier this year. The Hatters hold a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series.
The Governors enter Saturday's contest at 12-5 overall and 4-3 in ASUN play, riding a 9-0 record away from home this season. Austin Peay is coming off a 74-66 road win at FGCU on Thursday, led by Kyra Perkins, who scored 19 points off the bench.
As a team, Austin Peay averages 67.2 points per game while allowing just 55.8, ranking as the top defensive unit in the ASUN. The Governors shoot 42.8 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from three, while holding opponents to 36.9 percent shooting overall and 29.7 percent from beyond the arc. They also boast a significant rebounding edge, out-rebounding opponents 38.4–29.5, including a strong presence on the offensive glass.
Anovia Sheals leads the Governors with 13.7 points per game, adding 5.3 rebounds and 34 assists, while Veronaye Charlton averages 10.5 points on 48.6 percent shooting. Jim'Miyah Branton contributes 8.9 points per game while leading the team with 52 assists.
