CONWAY, Ark. — Stetson University (5-10, 1-1 ASUN) fell to Central Arkansas (7-8, 2-0 ASUN), 93-73, on Saturday afternoon at the Farris Center. Three Hatters finished in double figures, led by
Jamie Phillips Jr., as Stetson continued to show balance on the offensive end.
Stetson opened the game with a strong start, as
Collin Kuhl converted a layup on the opening possession off an assist from Phillips Jr. Phillips followed with a three-pointer at the 16:28 mark and added a layup shortly after to keep the Hatters within striking distance early.
Ethan Copeland knocked down a timely three-pointer midway through the half as Stetson worked to match Central Arkansas' pace. Despite stretches of solid offensive execution, Central Arkansas used transition baskets and perimeter shooting to build separation, sending Stetson into the break trailing 41–28.
The Hatters came out of halftime with energy, as Copeland drilled a three-pointer to open the second half and trim the deficit. Phillips Jr. remained active on both ends of the floor, recording a block and scoring on a jumper during a brief Stetson push. Later in the half,
J.R. Leonard and Copeland each connected from beyond the arc, providing sparks as the Hatters continued to battle. However, Central Arkansas responded to each run to secure the 93–73 final.
