Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hatters Set the Tone Early, Roll Past North Alabama for First ASUN Win

DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson women's basketball earned its first ASUN Conference victory of the season with a convincing 76–59 win over North Alabama on Saturday afternoon at Insight Credit Union Arena at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters (8-5, 1-1 ASUN) used a fast start and sustained defensive pressure to control the game from start to finish, capitalizing on 25 points off turnovers while holding a 42–28 advantage in points in the paint. The 17-point margin marked Stetson's largest conference win since an 80–63 victory over UNF on Jan. 11, 2025.

Stetson set the tone early with a dominant opening quarter. Eva Bradshaw opened the scoring with a three-pointer, and Mary McMillan followed with a triple of her own as the Hatters raced out to a 10–0 run. Rose Caso sparked the break with two fast-break layups, including one off a steal in the closing seconds, as Stetson limited the Lions to just nine points in the period to take a 22–9 lead.

The Hatters continued to build momentum in the second quarter. Jorah Eppley knocked down an early three, and Promise Keshi made her presence felt on both ends with a tip-in and multiple defensive plays. Cameron Thomas capped the half with a three-pointer in the final seconds, sending Stetson into the break with a 44–27 advantage.

Stetson maintained control after halftime, opening the third quarter with free throws from McMillan before Keshi delivered a highlight sequence, blocking a shot on one end and burying a transition three on the other. Aleah Sorrentino added key offensive rebounds and paint points as the Hatters pushed the lead to 63–45 entering the fourth.

North Alabama attempted to chip away in the final quarter, but Stetson answered each run with poise. Caso converted another layup to extend the margin, while Thomas and Keshi added late buckets to seal the 76–59 victory.

The Hatters finished with 17 assists, forced 17 turnovers, and held the Lions to 38.6 percent shooting from the field, never trailing after the opening quarter.

Stetson will now hit the road for the next four games, starting with the Lipscomb Bisons on Thursday, January 8 at 7:00 PM at Allen Arena in Nashville. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats are available at GoHatters.com. Follow along with the Stetson women's basketball team on social media for the most up-to-date news.
