CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Stetson University Men's Tennis dropped a 5-1 decision to the University of Miami on Saturday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. With forecasted rain in the area, the match began with singles play and the doubles point was not contested.
Miami opened the scoring on court five, where Rafael Segado claimed the first set before Mihnea Maftei was forced to retire. The Hurricanes followed with wins at the top of the lineup, as Antonio Prat defeated Alexandre Verlaguet at No. 1 singles and Jules Garot topped Marc Saura at No. 6.
Christian Kuehne battled at No. 2 singles but fell to Nacho Serra in straight sets, giving Miami its fourth point of the day.
Stetson's lone point came at No. 3 singles, where Xavier Sarda Marti earned an impressive three-set victory over Jakub Kroslak. Sarda Marti took the opening set 6-4, dropped the second, and responded with a strong finish to close out the match with a 6-3 win in the third.
Miami sealed the final score at No. 4 singles, as Mehdi Sadaoui outlasted James Lorenzetti in three sets.
