Manning Nets First Career Brace as Hatters Fall to Florida Atlantic, 3-2

DELAND, Fla. — Stetson came up just short against Florida Atlantic on Tuesday night, falling 3-2 at the Stetson Athletic Training Center.

The Hatters held a 9-6 advantage in shots and put five attempts on target, but the Owls made the most of their opportunities, scoring three times on four shots on goal. After being held scoreless in the opening half, Stetson mounted a late push behind a breakout performance from Xavier Manning, who scored the first two goals of his collegiate career to record his first career brace.

Manning accounted for both Stetson goals on just two shots, putting both attempts on target. His first brought the Hatters onto the board late in the second half before he struck again with 2:51 remaining, finishing off a feed from Zsombor Pall to pull Stetson within one. Pall recorded an assist on the goal, while Andre Casas matched the team high with two shots and placed one on target.

The loss snapped Stetson's three-match winning streak and moved the Hatters to 5-7-2 overall while remaining 3-3-0 in ASUN play. Florida Atlantic improved to 4-1-6 overall and 1-1-2 in American Conference action.

Stetson will remain home for Senior Night on Friday, when the Hatters welcome Florida Poly to the Athletic Training Center. The Hatters will then return to ASUN play with a trip to Fort Myers to face FGCU on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at Pickering Field.
