Hatters Come Up Short Against North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Stetson battled throughout Thursday night's matchup with North Florida but came up short in a 1-0 loss. The Hatters put four of their eight shots on goal, while Danica Wittmann recorded nine saves in 90 minutes.

Wittmann helped keep the match scoreless early, turning away attempts from Paige McSwigan and Zoe Looker. On the attacking end, Ava McKay, Stella Comana and Eva McCoy each put a shot on target, but North Florida goalkeeper Sofia Miliancano made the saves. The Ospreys scored at 34:51 to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Hatters continued to search for an equalizer in the second half, generating an attacking push between the 57th and 64th minutes. Victoria Wunderlich, Julianna Liguori and McKay helped create four shots and a corner kick during the stretch, but Stetson couldn't find the net. Wittmann added four saves after halftime, including stops in the 75th and 83rd minutes, as the Hatters continued to battle until the final whistle.
