Stetson Drops Season Opener at Clemson, Outscores Tigers After Half

CLEMSON, S.C. — Stetson men's basketball opened the 2026-27 regular season Monday night with an 85-72 loss to Clemson. After facing a 25-point deficit at halftime, the Hatters responded with a strong second-half performance, outscoring the Tigers 48-36 and putting together a late stretch of eight consecutive made field goals.

Clemson established an early lead in the opening half, but the Hatters found contributions from several players to keep their offense moving. Magnus Entenmann provided an early spark, scoring inside and knocking down a pair of three-pointers. Stetson continued to look for opportunities offensively, carrying that effort into the second half as the Hatters found their rhythm and began chipping away at the deficit.

Stetson came out with a much stronger offensive showing after the break, finding its rhythm and attacking the basket. The Hatters poured in 48 second-half points while shooting 20-for-35 from the field.

The Hatters continued to find success from the perimeter, with Alex Doyle knocking down three-pointers off assists from Thiago Sucatzky and Magnus Entenmann during a stretch that helped keep Stetson within reach. Sucatzky also made an impact defensively, turning a steal into a fast-break layup at the 12:01 mark, while Roman Miller added another steal to help create opportunities.

Collin Kuhl continued to provide an offensive presence, scoring baskets at 11:09, 9:34 and 8:01 as Stetson worked to close the gap. The Hatters saved their strongest offensive stretch for the closing minutes, making eight consecutive field goals from the 5:34 mark to the final 13 seconds. Sean Morgan, Kuhl, Entenmann, Miller and Bankston Pourchier all contributed during the run, with Pourchier recording the first points of his collegiate career. After trailing by as many as 23 points at 76-53, the Hatters continued to battle and finished with a 13-point margin.

Kuhl led the Hatters with 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting, while Entenmann added a career-best 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting and five rebounds. Sucatzky directed the offense with six assists and added seven points. Makhi Myles also contributed nine points and two steals while going a perfect 3-for-3 at the free-throw line.

Stetson finished the night with 44 points in the paint, 29 made field goals and 28 points from its bench. The Hatters' second-half production provided an encouraging finish to their season opener as they prepare for another challenging road matchup.
