ORLANDO, Fla. — Stetson battled No. 39 UCF on Sunday at the USTA National Campus, ultimately falling 6–1.
The Hatters showed competitiveness throughout the lineup, highlighted by a strong singles performance from
Yuki Mizuguchi at the No. 5 position.
In doubles, Stetson fought hard but came up short as UCF claimed the opening point with wins on courts two and three.
Katsiaryna Tuliakova and
Anastasija Adeikyte were locked in a tight battle at No. 1 doubles, trailing 6–5 when the match was left unfinished.
In singles play, Mizuguchi delivered Stetson's lone victory of the day, earning a 6–2, 6–3 decision at No. 5.
Anastasija Adeikyte pushed her opponent in a competitive second set at No. 3 singles, while Tuliakova battled in a tightly contested match at the top flight that featured a second-set tiebreak.
Despite the final score, the Hatters competed with intensity against a nationally ranked opponent and continued to gain valuable experience early in the season.
