DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson Women's Basketball hits the road for a two-game week before returning home for National Girls & Women in Sports Day this Saturday.
The Hatters (13-8, 6-4 ASUN) open the week at North Florida in Jacksonville on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:00 PM at UNF Arena before returning home to face the Bellarmine Knights on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 2:00 PM at Insight Credit Union Arena in DeLand.
Stetson comes into the week off a strong 2-0 road swing, including a 66-62 win over North Alabama to complete the sweep of the Lions and a 70-64 victory at Central Arkansas. Graduate forward Aleah Sorrentino has been a key contributor in recent weeks, scoring 14 or more points in each of her last six games, including tying her season-high with 19 points against North Alabama. Senior guard Cameron Thomas continues to lead the ASUN in scoring, averaging 17.0 points per game while shooting 44.2% from the floor. She has made 59 three-pointers on 39.3% shooting, ranking second in the conference in both categories. Mary McMillan is approaching 100 career assists, currently leading the ASUN with 4.5 assists per game while holding the top assist-to-turnover ratio.
North Florida enters the matchup 8-13 overall and 3-7 in conference play after a loss to Lipscomb and a big road win over Austin Peay. The Ospreys average 62.5 points per game while allowing 72.2, shooting 39.6% from the floor and 29.4% from three. Their key contributors include Alonya Waldon, averaging 10.6 points and 51 assists, Jamisyn Stinson, who leads the team with 42 made threes while averaging 10.4 points, and Dezuray McGill, a team-high 3.8 rebounds per game alongside 9.7 points. Stetson leads the all-time series 28-13, winning the last nine meetings and holding a 12-9 record on the road against UNF.
The Hatters return home to face Bellarmine, who enters the week 2-21 overall and 0-10 in ASUN play. The Knights are averaging 51.7 points per game while allowing 80.3 points, shooting 32.3% from the floor and 26.3% from three, allowing opponents to shoot 43.5%. Bellarmine is led by junior guard Triniti Ralston, who averaged 13.9 points per game but has not played since Dec. 7, and Rose Jamison, who averages 9.4 points and 4.7 rebounds. Stetson holds a 5-3 advantage in the all-time series, including a last-season overtime win in Louisville.
