Hatters Knock Down 13 Threes in Road Loss at EKU

RICHMOND, Ky. — Stetson (8-17, 4-8 ASUN) fell to Eastern Kentucky (9-16, 5-7 ASUN), 100–88, on Saturday afternoon at Baptist Health Arena.

The opening half featured multiple lead changes as both teams traded baskets. Stetson leaned on its perimeter shooting to stay in rhythm, highlighted by an early three-pointer from Jake Johnson off an assist from Collin Kuhl. The Hatters' balanced attack saw four players reach double figures, while the bench provided a spark with 18 first-half points to keep the contest tight.

Stetson found its stride midway through the half, briefly taking the lead following a three-pointer from Ethan Copeland at the 8:34 mark. Copeland's scoring surge continued his strong stretch, marking his fifth game this season with 20 or more points. Eastern Kentucky responded with timely baskets of its own, and neither side was able to create separation as the half closed deadlocked at 48–48.

The Hatters carried momentum into the second half, as Copeland opened the scoring at the line before Kuhl added a layup and a dunk to push Stetson in front. Copeland continued to facilitate on the offensive end, setting up Kuhl for a three-pointer at 17:06 that gave the Hatters a 60–55 advantage. Stetson remained within striking distance for much of the half, but Eastern Kentucky capitalized on turnovers and free-throw opportunities late to regain control.

Despite continued offensive contributions from Copeland, Daniel Macgregor and Kuhl, the Colonels pulled away in the final minutes, outscoring Stetson 52–40 in the second half to secure the 100–88 decision.
