JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The No. 4 Stetson Hatters return to the postseason stage Thursday afternoon, facing No. 5 FGCU in Game 6 of the 2026 ASUN Women's Basketball Championship at 2:30 p.m. ET inside VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
Stetson (19-10, 12-6 ASUN) earned the No. 4 seed after securing a first-round bye and will look to reach the 20-win mark for the first time since the 2021-22 season under Head Coach Lynn Bria. The Hatters split the regular season series with the Eagles, defending their home court before falling in the regular season finale in Fort Myers.
SERIES SNAPSHOT
Stetson's home victory over FGCU was one of its most complete performances of the season:
- First home win over FGCU since 2011, snapping an eight-game skid in the series
- Held the Eagles to 34.7 percent shooting and forced 14 turnovers that turned into 18 points
- Dominated the paint with 30 interior points
- Won the rebounding battle 40-33, including 14 offensive boards that led to 11 second-chance points
- Closed strong, outscoring FGCU 19-10 in the fourth quarter
Mary McMillan led the Hatters with 20 points, while Aleah Sorrentino added 19 points and 11 rebounds for a pivotal double-double.
HATTERS TO WATCH
Cameron Thomas leads Stetson offensively, earning All-ASUN Second Team honors as the conference's leading scorer at 16.3 points per game. She poured in 18 points in the road matchup against FGCU and has been the Hatters' go-to scoring option all season.
Mary McMillan, a unanimous All-ASUN First Team selection, closed the regular season averaging 14.2 points per game and 15.0 per game in conference play. She recorded over 120 assists for the second straight season and continues to impact the game in every phase.
Aleah Sorrentino, an All-ASUN Third Team honoree, has anchored the paint with 235 total rebounds — the most by a Hatter since Sarah Sagerer in 2016-17. She averages 11.1 points per game and provides a steady interior presence on both ends.
Defensively, Promise Keshi has been a difference-maker, tallying 54 steals and 36 blocks, both among the ASUN leaders. Her ability to disrupt passing lanes and protect the rim gives Stetson a unique edge on the perimeter.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
FGCU is led by All-ASUN Third Team selection Sinai Douglas, who averages 11.4 points per game while dishing out 105 assists and recording 50 steals. Nay Staton adds balance inside, leading the team with 5.7 rebounds per game while contributing 10.9 points per contest.
FGCU (16-14, 11-7 ASUN), the reigning ASUN Champions, advanced with a 94-28 first-round victory over No. 12 Bellarmine on Tuesday. The Eagles average 63.6 points per game while holding opponents to 58.7 and shoot 43.3 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from beyond the arc.
The all-time series has favored FGCU, 39-6, adding another chapter to one of the ASUN's longest-standing rivalries.
TOURNAMENT IMPLICATIONS
With a win, Stetson advances to Saturday's semifinal round and moves one step closer to its first ASUN Tournament title since 2013. The Hatters will need to replicate the physical rebounding effort and defensive intensity displayed in their home victory to secure another postseason triumph over the Eagles.
Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m. ET at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live stats and ticket information are available at GoHatters.com.
