Stetson Falls to FGCU 4-2 in ASUN Tournament

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Stetson University fell to Florida Gulf Coast 4–2 on Thursday in the ASUN Quarterfinals.

FGCU claimed the early advantage by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Nora Svensson and June Bjork edged Yuki Mizuguchi and Katsiaryna Tuliakova 7–5 at No. 1 doubles, while Cecilie Maeland and Anjali Kotecha earned a 6–1 victory over Anastasija Adeikyte and Dana Baidaulet at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match was left unfinished at 5–4.

In singles play, FGCU extended its lead with a 6–1, 6–0 win by Sabrina Jaramillo over Baidaulet at No. 5 singles. Stetson responded at No. 2, where Katsiaryna Tuliakova defeated Bjork 6–4, 6–1 to put the Hatters on the board.

Yuki Mizuguchi followed with a 6–2, 6–3 win over Maeland at No. 4 singles to even the match at 2–2.

FGCU regained control at the top spot, as Svensson earned a 7–5, 7–5 victory over Pilar Astigarraga Harper at No. 1 singles. The Eagles clinched the match at No. 3, where Ashley Matz defeated Anastasija Adeikyte 6–3, 1–6, 6–3 to secure the 4–2 decision.
