Stetson Announces Baseball Program Leadership Change

Trimper resigns after successful 10-year stint.

DeLAND, Fla. – Stetson University's Steve Trimper has resigned his position as head coach of the Hatters' baseball program.

In his 28 seasons as a NCAA Division I head coach, Trimper has compiled a 786-692-4 overall record. He spent 10 seasons as the head baseball coach at Stetson, following seven seasons at Manhattan College and 11 years at the University of Maine.

During his tenure in DeLand, Trimper led the Hatters to three ASUN Conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances and a 305-226 overall record. In 2018, he guided the team to a career-best 48-11 record, a NCAA Regional title and NCAA Super Regional appearance. Most recently, the Hatters won the 2024 and 2025 ASUN crown and appeared in the NCAA Regional. A total of 21 Hatters were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft during Trimper's tenure.

"After an incredible journey at Stetson University, I have decided to step down as head baseball coach," said Trimper. "I am deeply grateful to the university's leadership, our student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni, donors, and the DeLand community for making my time at Stetson truly a 10 out of 10 experience.

"Together, we celebrated unforgettable milestones, including NCAA postseason success, ASUN championships, and the transformation of Melching Field through our partnership with the City of DeLand. While I am proud of those accomplishments, I am most proud of the hundreds of student-athletes who have gone on to build successful lives beyond baseball. I look forward to the next chapter of my coaching career and will always cherish my time as a Hatter."

Stetson will immediately initiate a national search for its next baseball head coach.
