Biography

Redshirt Senior (2018): Team captain … Second team All-PFL selection … Second team Academic All-PFL pick … Started all 10 games at quarterback … Broke records for single-game and career passing yards, as well as single-game TD passes, throwing for 498 yards and six scores, in the win over Valpo ... The performance gave McGovern the program record for career passing yards (5,628) and, with 34 TD passes, left him one shy of tying that record … Set the modern season record with 3,028 passing yards … His 26 TD passes broke the old program record by nine … Set the season record for passing efficiency with a mark of 164.3 … Had four of the top six single game bests for passing efficiency in a game … Averaged nine yards per pass attempt and 13.5 yards per pass completion … Broke his own school record for passing yards per game, throwing for an average of 302.8 … Hooked up with Steven Burdette for a 96-yard TD pass - the longest play for Stetson in the modern era – in the win over Morehead State … Completed 35 passes against Butler to tie his own program record on 48 attempts for 347 yards and a touchdown … Had his pass attempt into the end zone batted down on the final play of the game at Butler, preventing the Hatters from earning a fourth victory on the last play of the game … Surpassed 300 yards passing in each of his final five games, posting five of the top seven single-game performances in program history … Rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns, including two in the opening game against Point … Earned PFL Offensive Player of the Week honors for the performance against Valpo in his career finale … Earned team Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performances against Point, Drake and Morehead State in addition to Valpo … Played in the FCS Tropical Bowl after the season … Was named to the National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society … Was named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll.

Threw for a Stetson season record of 2,331 yards ... Passed for eight touchdowns ... Completed a career-high 35 passes for a career-high 383 yards and two touchdowns at Valparaiso (9/30) ... Prior to Stetson: Saw action in two games as a freshman at Wagner in 2014, completing one of three pass attempts for 15 yards ... Helped team to a share of the Northeast Conference title. 

High School: Was a two-year starter at quarterback and safety for coach Nunzio Campanile at Bergen Catholic ... Passed for 993 yards and six touchdowns in his senior year  … Helped his team advance to the state title game in three of his four seasons ... Team was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation during his junior season ... Recorded 279 yards of total offense in a game against prep national champion John Curtis Christian from New Orleans ... Personal: Full name is Colin Robert McGovern ... Was born on July 21, 1995, in Teaneck, NJ ... Is the son of Jack and Ann McGovern ... Has two brothers, Brendan (27) and Griffin (18), and one sister, Erin (25) ... Comes for a very athletic family that includes his brother Brendan who played college football at Holy Cross and Bentley University, and his sister Erin, who was a senior captain on the women's soccer team at the University of Miami ... Legacy also includes his father and a trio of uncles ... His dad was the starting center at Holy Cross for four seasons and his brothers, Rob and Bill, also played college football at Holy Cross ... Rob went on to a four-year career in the NFL with the Chiefs, Steelers and Patriots while Bill went into coaching and currently serves as outside linebackers coach for the New York Giants after a long career as a college coach ... Another uncle, Jim McGovern, played college golf at Arkansas and Old Dominion before playing on the PGA Tour from 1991 to 1998, winning the Houston Open in 1993 and finishing fifth at The Masters in 1994 ... Received his degree in Sport Business with a Marketing minor.
