2008: Saw limited time as a freshman, yet expected to challege for starting time in 2009... Played in 15 games with four starting assignments... Three of his four hits on the season went for extra bases (2 doubles and one home run)... Was 1-for-2 with a big 3-run home run vs. Bethune-Cookman (4/8/08)... Helped team defeat Holy Cross with a 2-RBI double and a run scored (3/1/08)... Was 1-for-1 with a double against Campbell (3/21/08).

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Bloomingdale High School in Valrico, Florida... Was a member of the Honor Court and the National honor Society... Played 5A baseball under head coach K.B. Scull... Helped team to District Championship, Regional Championship, and reached the State Final Four in 2004... Team finished with a record of 19-6 and won the District Championship in 2007... As a senior was named the team’s Most Valuable Player, First Team All-Western Conference, Second team All-County, and Hillsborough County All-Star Team member... Also played high school football in 2005.

PERSONAL: Joseph Henry Castellanos was born January 11, 1989, in Tacoma, Washington... Son of Maria and Joe Castellanos of Brandon, Florida... His most memorable athletic moment was playing on Legends Field in Tampa... After graduation if not playing baseball he would like to work with computers... Majoring in Biology at Stetson.
