Biography

2009: 10-14 with a 1.99 ERA in 27 starts and three relief appearances... tossed 20 complete games, six shutouts and held opponents to a .201 batting average...164 strikeouts in 172.1 innings pitched...Stetson’s all-time strikeout leader with 624 career punchouts...second in school history with 77 career victories...career-high 14 strikeouts against Kent State on Opening Day (Feb. 6)...began the season with 23 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run...threw two-hit shutouts in three straight starts over 18 innings in mid-March.

 

2008: Compiled 19-10 record in the circle with 1.86 ERA and 154 strikeouts...tossed eight shutouts and set Stetson career shutout record (31) in just three years...moved into third on Hatter all-time win (67) and strikeout (460) lists...needs just 16 more wins and 46 more strikeouts to set school career records...Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week for May 5 after 10 scoreless innings against Florida Gulf Coast and Florida Atlantic...threw 22.1 consecutive shutout innings in mid-April...11 strikeouts in Feb. 29 win over Maine. 

 

2007: Demers appeared in 36 games as a sophomore, making 23 starts in the circle as Stetson’s staff ace.  She compiled a 21-6 record with a 1.75 ERA and 141 strikeouts in 171.2 innings.  The All-Atlantic Sun Second Team selection was named to the A-Sun All-Tournament Team thanks to a dominating weekend in which she won all four of her starts with a 1.15 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.  Some of Demers’ 2007 highlights include one-hit shutouts against Gardner-Webb in the first game of the A-Sun finals on May 10 and Campbell on April 14 and a two-hit shutout of Albany on Feb. 21.  She was named Atlantic Sun Co-Pitcher of the Week for February 26.  Demers has already made a significant impact on the Stetson career record books; in just two years she ranks fourth in wins (48), shutouts (23), and earned-run average (1.08) and eighth in strikeouts (306). 

 

2006:  Made 37 appearances as a freshman with 34 starts... posted a 27-6 record with a 1.08 ERA which ranks fourth among Stetson single season leaders ... struck out a team high 165 batters while only walking 29 ... pitched a season-high nine innings against iowa State (3/12) ... had 11 strikeouts against Gardner-Webb (5/11) ... Named A-Sun Pitcher of the Week four times ... set single season school records with 27 wins, 17 shutouts and a .818 (27-6) win percentage ... chosen to the A-Sun All-Freshman Team, A-Sun First Team and the A-Sun All-Tournament Team ... finished 17th in wins (27) and ERA (1.08) among NCAA leaders ... finished first in the A-Sun in wins (27), shutouts (17), and fifth on strikeouts (165).

 

High School: Played at Miami Palmetto Sr. High School in Miami under Gator Rebhan ... guided her team to a 2003 state championship as well as district titles in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 ... led team to state runner-up spot in 2005 ... named team MVP in 2005 ... earned second teamm all-state honors in 2003, third team all-state mention in 2004 and first team all-state honors in 2005 ... named First Team All-Dade County as a sophomore, junior, and senior ... selected as high school Rookie of the Year in 2002 and Pitcher of the Year in 2003 and 2004 ... also played four years of volleyball.

 

Personal: Erica Christine Demers was born March 2, 1987 in Miami ... daughter of Kevin and Marina Demers ... Majoring in Communication Studies.
